James Richard, NRP

Owner and Dean of RICTC, bringing over three decades of experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), having served as a 911 Paramedic since 1993. Throughout his distinguished career, he has been deeply committed to providing high-quality prehospital care, advancing the profession, and mentoring the next generation of EMS providers. He currently serves on the Rhode Island Ambulance Service Advisory Board, contributing his extensive field knowledge to help shape EMS policy, standards, and system-wide improvements across the state.
James previously served as a Captain with Cumberland Emergency Medical Services, where he held leadership responsibilities in both clinical operations and personnel development. His career has been defined not only by frontline patient care, but also by his dedication to education. As a certified instructor in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Stop the Bleed (STB), he has trained and mentored countless Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and paramedics, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and clinical judgment required to succeed in high-pressure environments.
As Owner and Dean of RICTC, James provides strategic leadership and oversight of all educational programs, ensuring the highest standards of academic quality, clinical excellence, and regulatory compliance. His approach to education is grounded in real-world experience, evidence-based practice, and a deep understanding of the evolving demands of modern EMS. His lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and education continues to have a lasting impact on both his students and the communities they serve.
